Your privacy, in plain English.
We collect as little about you as we can, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

The short version
- No tracking. This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising trackers.
- Only what you give us. We hold your details only if you email us, apply for certification or sign up for our updates.
- Never sold. We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.
- Your choice. You can unsubscribe, see what we hold or ask us to delete it, at any time.
1. Who we are
This website, mmindex.info, is run by The Mature Miles Index, a trading name of The Bubbly Boutique, publisher of the Mature Miles Index (“MMI”, “we”, “us”), based in Riebeek Kasteel, Western Cape, South Africa. We are the “responsible party” for your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).
Our Information Officer is Allan Barnard. You can contact him about anything in this policy at privacy@mmindex.info.
2. What we collect, and why
| When | What we collect | Why we use it |
|---|---|---|
| You email us | Your name, email address and whatever you write to us | To reply to you. Nothing else. |
| You sign up for our updates | Your email address and, if you give it, your name | To send you the Index and occasional updates you asked for |
| You enquire about partnering or certification | Your name, organisation, role, email and phone number, and the details of your enquiry | To discuss and, if you go ahead, provide certification or membership |
| You apply for certification | Your organisation’s details, your name, position, email, phone number and address, your answers to the questionnaire, your words of welcome and any photo you upload | To assess your destination, issue your invoice and certificate, and send you a confirmation by email |
| You visit the website | Technical information your browser sends, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested | Kept briefly by our hosting provider to deliver the site and protect it from attack. We do not use it to identify you. |
We do not collect any “special personal information” (such as health, religion or race), and we never ask for payment-card details on this website.
3. Our legal basis
We process your information only where POPIA allows it: because you have consented (for example, by signing up for updates), because it is needed to respond to you or provide a service you requested, or because we have a legitimate interest in keeping this website secure.
4. Updates and marketing emails
We send updates only to people who have actively asked for them. Every email we send includes a simple way to unsubscribe, and unsubscribing takes effect straight away. We will never add you to a list because you emailed us a question.
5. Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with the service providers we need to run MMI, who may process it only on our instructions:
- Cloudflare, which hosts this website, stores certification applications in a secure database, and forwards email sent to our mmindex.info addresses;
- Brevo, which sends the confirmation email you receive when you apply, and will send our updates to subscribers;
- our email provider, where messages you send us are received and stored.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
6. Information sent outside South Africa
Some of our service providers store data outside South Africa, for example in the United States or Europe. We use only providers that are bound by data-protection laws or agreements that offer protection substantially similar to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.
7. Content from other websites
Some pages show photographs hosted by Wikimedia Commons, and our map loads map-drawing software from a public code library. When your browser loads these, the provider may see your IP address, as with any website. Links to YouTube and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
8. How long we keep it
- Emails and enquiries: for as long as we need to deal with them, and no longer than three years after our last contact.
- Update subscribers: until you unsubscribe. We then keep only a record that you unsubscribed, so we never email you again by mistake.
- Applications that do not go ahead: no longer than three years after the application.
- Partner and certification records: for as long as the relationship lasts, plus five years for accounting and legal purposes.
9. How we protect it
We keep the information we hold to a minimum, store it only with reputable providers, protect our accounts with strong passwords and two-step sign-in, and allow access only to those who need it. If a security breach puts your information at risk, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
10. Your rights
Under POPIA, you may:
- ask whether we hold information about you, and request a copy;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- object to our use of it, or withdraw consent you gave;
- unsubscribe from our updates at any time;
- complain to the Information Regulator.
To use any of these rights, email privacy@mmindex.info. We will respond within 30 days and will not charge you for a reasonable request.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa:

This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and its date. If a change is significant, we will tell subscribers by email before it takes effect.
